Dollie's Story

Dollie Wilson Dowell passed away March 23, 2011, in Highland Village.   
She was born April 10, 1913, in Bogata to Orange and Bertie (Johnson) Wilson. Dollie was employed with the Internal Revenue Service. She retired to Tyler where she was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and a member of the Women’s Bible class. Dollie was a volunteer at the church’s Good Samaritan Outreach Center and was instrumental in the formation of the original senior adult group at Green Acres known as the Young at Heart. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Dollie is survived by her sister, Velma Brandon of Georgetown; 12 nieces and nephews; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvan Dowell; her parents; brothers Odis, Milton, Raymond and Orange Wilson Jr.; and nephews Odis Wilson Jr. and Paul Wilson.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., March 26, at the Royse City Cemetery under the direction of Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel.
