Ima's Story

Ima Corrine Gray was born, along with her twin Ina, Feb. 11, 1917, in Union Valley, Hunt County, Texas, to William Arvid and Alice Jane (Finley) Monk. She married Paul Inez Gray on June 24, 1939. They were married 59 years at the time of his death in 1998, and she went home to join him in the presence of the Lord on Tuesday morning, Jan. 27, 2015.  
Ima gave her heart to the Lord in 1930 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Royse City. She was a devoted Christian, loving mother and grandmother and a great influence in the lives of her family and friends.
Ima is survived by her children, Gerald Gray of Royse City, Kenneth Gray and wife Linda of Winnsboro, Dean Gray and wife Barbara of Greenville, and Lynda Gray Finley and husband Wayne of Paris, Texas; grandchildren Deana Gray West and husband John, James Gray, Angie Gray Middleton and husband Ken, Talaura Finley Martin and husband Steven, Michael Gray and wife Threase, Jason Gray and wife Christi and Kellie Gray Jones; great-grandchildren Justin, DeNae, Richard, Mia, Maci, Josh, Brittney, Zachary, Kayla, Gentry and Emily; great-great-grandchildren Autumn, Eli, Averi, Carter and Kinlyn; a sister, Minnie Lenora Hancock of Garland; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul Inez Gray; great-grandchild Caris Nichole Carraway; brothers Joe Monk and wife Ola, Elzie Monk and wife Thelma, Willis Monk and wife Sarah, John Monk and wife Zeffa; an infant brother, Everett; and sisters Erlean Sherrill and husband Henry and twin Ina Hargis and husband Franchard.
Her funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 30, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Royse City Chapel. Interment followed in the Royse City Cemetery.
