Jo Pettus Thurman, 90, of Royse City passed away Jan. 5, 2011. 
She was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Hugo, Okla., to John Loyd and Lula (Coston) Iglehart. Jo was the person who worked for and received the original grant through Green Thumb to begin the Senior Citizen’s Center in Royse City. She had worked in retail sales and was a past member of First Baptist Church of Royse City.
Jo is survived by her daughter, Nancy Daniels of Royse City; son Jim Frey and wife Linda of Plano; sister Alma McCormick of Plainview; grandchildren Charles Daniels and wife Sandra of Maralal, Kenya, Sue Ocnick of Garland and Greg Frey and wife Debbie of Caddo Mills; great-grandchildren Travis, Sam, Joseph, J.J., Craig, Terry, Ashley and Dewayne; and great-great-grandchildren Jay, Emili, Colby and Cason.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Jan. 8, in the Royse City Cemetery with Dr. Aubrey Patterson officiating. 
Rest Haven Funeral Home-Royse City Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
