Florence Joyce Lane passed away at the age of 96 in a Mesquite nursing facility on Feb. 19, 2013.
She lived and raised her family in Roswell, N.M., until retirement. She then moved to the Rockwall area to enjoy her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joyce was born in Harcourt, Victoria Australia, on Dec. 18, 1916. She was the older sister of Winsome Esnouf. During her childhood the two sisters were taken to school by horse and buggy. She married Joseph John Lane after they met during World War II where he was stationed in Brisbane, Australia. After the war, they moved to Columbus, Ohio, and eventually made their home in Roswell, N.M. She worked at the New Mexico Rehabilitation Center and held a position as the purchasing director. She was a very active member at St.Thomas Episcopal in Roswell. Until her death Joyce continued to worship at Transformation Anglican Church in Rockwall. She was actively involved for 13 years leading children’s grief recovery groups with My Guardian Angels.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John Lane.
She is survived by her children, Anthony Lane and Ann Kittrell and husband Bill; four grandchildren, Jamie Trollinger of Aurora, Colo., Justin Lane and wife Ashly of Lucas, and Emily and Thomas Kittrell of Rockwall; six great-grandchildren, Chris Bohnhoff and Josh Trollinger, both of Aurora, Colo., and Madison, Bryce, Morgan and Meghan Lane of Lucas.
A memorial service for Joyce was held Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. at Restland Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave. in Dallas with the Rev. Don McLane officiating. The family received friends following the service.
