Leonard's Story

Leonard Ray Sleeper Sr., 72, of Royse City passed away Jan. 9, 2011. 
He was born Feb. 12, 1938, in Hot Springs, Ark., to Leonard Daniel and Lucy Elizabeth (Smith) Sleeper. Leonard proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea. He attended seminary classes and worked for 22 years as the custodian for Aldersgate Church in Greenville. Leonard was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Sleeper of Royse City; children Karmie Tucker and husband Robert of Oklahoma City, Okla., Leonard Ray Sleeper Jr. of Royse City, Diane Wilson of Royse City, Joey Sleeper and wife Michelle of Sumner, Debbie Sleeper of Spring City, Tenn., Becky Rowell of Sulphur Springs, Mary Sleeper of Royse City, Pam Walls and husband Jason of Cash and Vicki Sleeper of Royse City; brother John Sleeper and wife Kathleen of Little, Rock, Ark.; and grandchildren Andrea, Andrew, Caleb, Jakob, Eddy, Jeromey, David, Charlton and Ethan. 
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Sleeper.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Jan. 14, at Trinity Baptist Church, 300 N. Erby Campbell Blvd. in Royse City, with Pastor Tom Emmons officiating. Interment will follow in Royse City Cemetery. 
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Feb. 14, at the church.
Rest Haven Funeral Home-Royse City Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
