Michael Lacy, 43, of Royse City, formerly of Lubbock, passed away March 18, 2011.
He was born Sept. 15, 1967, in Hale Center, Texas, to Johnny Ray and Patsy Carolyn (Curry) Lacy. Michael graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock in 1986 and Texas Tech University where he earned his bachelor of science in human science in 1996. He then went on to Southwestern Theological Seminary where he received his master’s degree in 2005. Michael was ordained as a minister on July 8, 2007. He was active in youth leadership all of his life, was a Sunday school teacher and most recently served as the youth minister of Trinity Baptist Church in Royse City. Michael had worked in customer service for Cardinal Health Care and Verizon. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians and enjoyed sharing magic with children. Michael was a friend to everyone he met, and a counselor to all in need.
He is survived by his mother of Lubbock; a brother, Randy Lacy of Lubbock; uncles Darrell Lacy and wife Joanne of Hart and Bob Lacy and wife Margaret of Clovis, N.M; an aunt, Joann DeZonia and Dennis Lambert of Collinsville; several cousins; many friends; and the wonderful youth at Trinity Baptist.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and uncles Wayne Curry and Bill Lacy.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., March 24, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Pastor Dal Cotrell, Pastor Tom Emmons and Pastor Charlie Holton officiating. Graveside services were at 2 p.m., March 26, in Hart Cemetery in Hart.
