Sarah's Story

Sarah Marie (Burks) Parks, 81, of Royse City passed away May 11, 2010. 
She was born July 29, 1928, in Fate to Jerry Monroe and Mattie Lee (McGraw) Burks. Sarah graduated from Royse City High School in 1945 and was the drum major for the Bull Dogs. She was a loving, Christian mother and grandmother who enjoyed being around people, especially children. Sarah was also an animal lover with dogs being the most special to her. She enjoyed working outside and had a great singing voice, performing at social events all around the Royse City area. Sarah was a member of First United Methodist church.
She is survived by her son, Randy Earl Parks and wife Gloria of Fate; granddaughter Randi Rachell Parks of Royse City; and a host of nieces and nephews. 
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar Earl Parks in 1995, six sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., May 14, at First United Methodist Church, 305 N. Josephine, Royse City, Texas 75189, with Pastor Les Joslin officiating. Interment followed in Royse City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Texas Baptist Children’s Home, 629 Farley Street, Waxahachie, Texas 75165-2701.
Rest Haven Funeral Home-Royse City Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
