On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Dolores "Lori" Wright, loving mother of three children, passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 94. Lori was born May 22, 1930 to Silas and Rose Noble in Rockford, Illinois. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1948. She married William H. Wright in 1949 and had three children together: Cary, Joan, and Patrick. She was a charter supporter of the Richmond Hill Players in Geneseo, IL. She divorced in 1969 and married Harley Oberle the following year, moving to Richardson, Texas and then on to Royse City in 1977. She was active in First United Methodist Church of Royse City with the choir and ensemble and was a President of United Methodist Women of Royse City. When Patrick went to Texas A&M, she became membership chairman for the Aggie Mom's Club in Rockwall, Texas. She enjoyed drawing and painting, cataloging the many birds visiting her yard, and spent much of her retirement caring for her mother, Rose Noble.
Lori was extremely active in her retirement, volunteering for Helping Hands, was a charter member of Royse City Friends of the Library, was employed at the library, historian for Rockwall Friends of the Library, active member of Rockwall Community Playhouse from its very start, both on stage and off, but mostly sewing costumes for dozens of productions. She was a founding member of Tri-County Choral, and the founder of Made With Love, a group within the Methodist church that sewed comfort items to give to seniors throughout the area. Lori loved baking pies, sugar cookies and her famous lemon bars. Lori was given the exceptional honor of "Lori Wright Day" and awarded a Key to the City for her service to the community by Royse City Mayor Janet Nichol on December 27, 2016. In 2017, she moved to South Pasadena, California to live with her son Patrick and his family. She spent her final years at a nursing care facility nearby.
Lori was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Noble Guild and brother Clyde Noble. She is survived by her three children and four grandchildren. Lori donated her body to science. As a memorial, donations may be sent to rebuilding the First United Methodist Church of Royse City, Texas at https://www.roysecitymethodist.life.
